Guide to the new Machinery Directive

The new Machinery Directive comes into force on 29 December 2009 and there will be no transition period, so now is the time to start preparing.

MachineBuilding.net has published a free Guide to the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Although the new Directive is intended to clarify and simplify matters, there are significant changes relating to the scope, partly-completed machinery, fixings for fixed guards, and conformity assessment. Manufacturers that currently have EC type-examination certificates issued under the existing Directive need to be aware that the certificates will not be valid after 29 December 2009.
